‘The kingdom of Meath and its capitals’

The residences, fortifications and metonyms of the kingdom of Meath in the Central Middle Ages (1000-1300), including Tara, Clonard and many others, including discussion of current work to develop our understanding of the types of settlements in medieval Gaelic Ireland, and the debate about the Irish ‘monastic town’.

Dr Seán Ó Hoireabhárd is a Bergin Fellow at the School of Celtic Studies in the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, specialising in medieval Irish history. He is a former Research Ireland Postdoctoral Fellow and Irish Research Council Postgraduate Scholar.
