An assessment of Testing Area 10 in Contract 3 of the Clonee-North of Kells PPP scheme was undertaken on behalf of Meath County Council.  Testing Area 10 is located north-west of the Navan-Athboy road and west of Navan town, in the townlands of Townparks, Robinrath and Knockumber.   The testing methodology generally consisted of mechanically excavating 2mwide test-trenches along the centre-line and perpendicular to the centre-line to the edge of the land-take every 20m.

One hundred test-trenches, representing 6388.6 linear metres, were excavated.  Two sites of archaeological potential were recorded.   Townparks 1 had seven linear ditches and four pits.  Townparks 2 consisted of three linear features, a pit and a posthole containing burnt-mound material, as well as a separate burnt mound.
